‘Change consultants’ for Penang agencies

GEORGE TOWN (Jan 2): The Penang government today revealed that it is engaging a group of “change consultants” to improve the management and bureaucratic efficiency and productivity among state agencies.

Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said international managements experts are frequently engaged by top private and government-linked companies, including national petroleum firm Petronas.

“If the corporate sector is doing this, the government departments should also look at how to similarly enhance productivity and efficiency,” he said, adding that Penang is the first state in Malaysia to engage such consultants.

The consultant, LSS Academy, was appointed some 18 months ago for the Penang Island Municipal Council (MPPP), and was later tasked with the Penang Development Corporation (PDC) in the middle of last year. Read More
